Why ordinary location sharing feels incomplete

A location-sharing app can show dots, and a sat nav can show a route. A multi-car journey needs both ideas to work together. Meridian is designed around the shared drive: the destination and convoy remain part of the navigation context instead of living in a separate chat or map.

A practical road-trip workflow

Before setting off

  • Create the convoy and confirm the destination.
  • Share the six-character join code while parked.
  • Agree which vehicle leads and where the first planned stop will be.
  • Mount phones and connect CarPlay or Android Auto before moving.

On the road

Each driver follows their own safe navigation view. The convoy map provides awareness of the formation, while planned regroup and fuel stops prevent rushed decisions. If the group separates, continue to a safe agreed point rather than trying to catch up.

For people following from home

A driver can deliberately create a private live viewer link. That link uses a journey-scoped credential and should be shared only with people who need to follow the journey. It is not a public profile or a permanent location-history page.

What to look for in a multi-car road-trip app

A driver can create a private, journey-scoped web viewer link. Anyone holding that link can see the shared journey, so it should be treated as sensitive.
